Arsenal won 2-0.

The new season of the English Premier league is about to start, and it seems that it is going to be the most exciting in its history. Seven teams are aiming for the title, and at this moment we do not have any teams who we can call favorites. Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United all want to grab one of the most prestigious trophies in the world. Unfortunately for these clubs, there can be only one winner.

After several years of spending, Arsene Wenger and Arsenal continued that trend by buying Alexandre Lacazette, one of the best forwards in all of Europe, from Lyon. It seems that Lacazette is going to replace Alexis Sanchez, who wants to leave the Gunners and sign with Paris Saint-Germain. If that happens, Arsenal will receive a substantial transfer fee, and we might expect more arrivals.

Manchester City has been spending incredible sums every summer, and this one was no different. The club paid over £200 million for various transfers, including Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy, and Kyle Walker. Pep Guardiola has one of the most expensive teams in the world, so anything else but the title would be considered a complete failure.

Liverpool’s biggest win in this transfer window will be Philippe Coutinho staying at Anfield. The Brazilian had an offer from Barcelona, who was eager to spend over £100 million on one of the best players in the world currently. Fortunately for the Reds fans, Jurgen Klopp declined this offer, saying that it is imperative for his team that the playmakers stay. However, the latest news claims that the Brazilian issued an official request to be put on the transfer list.

Tottenham kept the majority of its team intact. Kyle Walker left for Manchester City, but the Spurs have decent replacements. Mauricio Pochettino brought only three players, and we can expect the same style of play by his team: high tempo, fast counter attacks, fierce pressing, and many goals. Harry Kane is Tottenham’s most lethal weapon, and the preseason favorite for the league’s top goal-scorer.

Manchester United won two trophies last season. Jose Mourinho wants the same number in the upcoming season. Only this time, he aims for the domestic championship and the Champions League. When we look the Red Devils at this moment, they sure look dangerous in those regards. Mourinho bought several players who fit his vision of the club. The two ‘biggest’ are Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic, who both tower over opposing players. The Red Devils have one of the most robust teams in the world. Just imagine Matic and Paul Pogba in the midfield. Terrifying.

And at last, we come to the reigning champions. Chelsea had an awful preseason, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Diego Costa’s departure has had a significant impact on the team. One of the most expensive players in their history, Alvaro Morata, is still searching his form, but we do not doubt that Antonio Conte is going to solve that problem. After all, he revolutionized Chelsea’s game when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

One thing is for sure: we are awaiting one of the best seasons, ever, in the history of European football.
