Real Madrid comes back and wins against Napoli 3-1

Diego Armando Maradona and more than 10 thousand Napoli fans weren’t enough to help their team, defeat the most known football club in the world.

At their Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid won over visiting team from Italy, 3-1.

Only 22 seconds were behind us when Real Madrid had their first chance to score in this game.

Cristiano Ronaldo stormed down the side, passed the ball to Benzema who smashed the ball, but Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina was excellent and denied the effort.

That pretty much indicated what would this game be like.

And when looking the final result, you might think that this was exactly how the whole game developed.

But it wasn’t like that.

Napoli gained the after their first attack when Marek Hamsik passed the ball to Lorenzo Insigne, who used real goalkeeper Navas bad angle and scored from over 30 meters.

Immediately, the whole stadium was silent, except the part where Maradona and Napoli’s fans were located.

But an early shocker didn’t slow Real, but totally opposite, it made them more agile and energetic. They started pressuring the guests, and that eventually proved right, when Benzema scored an equalizer after Carvajal centered the ball into the middle of the box.

This was the 51st goal of the French striker and he jumped over Thierry Henry, and now stands in the fifth place of all-time Champions League scorer list.

Zinedine Zidane players kept attacking but they didn’t succeed to score one more goal in the first half, and the fans in Madrid saw a draw at the half-time.

Napoli, on the other hand, went back and waited for the counter-attacks, leaving the ball possession to the home team.

Immediately after the second half started, Real started attacking and they decided this game in the next 10 minutes.

First, Ronaldo made his fifth assist of the season and made his record when looking assists in one Champions League season, after he passed the ball to Tony Kroos who scored a leading goal for Real.

In the 54th minute Casemiro, made a fantastic volley from some 20 meters, scoring one of the most beautiful goals this season.

Napoli had just one chance in the whole second half after Mertens missed a good opportunity in the 68th minute.

Real slowed down the pace of the game, and kept the result.

Zinedine Zidane was satisfied after the game saying that nothing is over yet.

‘We’ll go there to a difficult ground where we’ll suffer and it is still an open game. We need to go there and finish it off with our 3-1 advantage.’

He pointed out that Tony Kroos was the best player on the field.

‘Kroos likes to arrive late in the box and we spoke about it recently. He has the capacity to run more both defensively and attacking.

‘He has brilliant feet and can score from that kind of positions and I’m very pleased for him.’

Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri said that mistakes were the main reason why his team lost.

We faced the best team in the world but it is a pity that we made so many mistakes with the ball because we don’t usually do that.

The rematch will be played at 7th of March, in Naples.
