The transfer of Neymar from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain quickly made a huge impact on the European football market. Not only because it became the highest ever, or because of its hype.
Now we see that this action caused many problems for several clubs, and that things are just starting to heat up as we and her the final period of the transfer window.
Everything started after Barcelona wanted to purchase the replacement for the Brazilian International. Blaugrana wanted to land another magician from Copacabana, Philippe Coutinho or Osman Dembele from Borussia Dortmund. They’ve caused a lot of troubles for their current clubs.
Coutinho issued an official request to leave Liverpool, and on the other hand, Osman Dembele just disappeared from Dortmund and didn’t show up for practices, after his club had declined Barca’s bid for him.
Liverpool rejected the offer from Barcelona worth £120 million, strongly saying that Coutinho is going to stay at Anfield Road. Just a few hours later shock and disbelief overwhelmed Liverpool fans when their key player issued an official request to be sold to Barcelona.
After this unpleasant turn of events coach, Jurgen Klopp decided that Coutinho is not going to start the game against Watford and that is going to be a major setback for the Reds. The official reason is Coutinho injury.
“He has back problems, not in training since last Friday,” Klopp explained to the reporters at Melwood on Friday.
In the meantime, the Catalonian club went to explore other options. And they were negotiating with Osman Dembele from Borussia Dortmund. It seems that the player and the club agreed to the terms, but the unexpected situation happened when the Millionaires declined the offer. Reportedly it was valued around €140 million.
After this, the young Frenchmen didn’t turn up for a practice session as he just disappeared. Immediately Borussia Dortmund reacted saying that Ousmane Dembele is suspended and that everything regarding his transfer to Barcelona is terminated.
“Ousmane Dembélé missed training without notifying the club and has clearly taken this action consciously. We will obviously sanction him for this,” Michael Zorc sporting director of Borussia said. “We have also suspended the player until after the cup game at the weekend.”
After these two turn downs, Barcelona is in a bit of a problem, because they have to react quickly. Barca has just seven days until the start of the La Liga. And also they will have to clash with Real Madrid tomorrow night in the Spanish Super Cup.
As you see the things are not bright for both Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund as they will have unsettled players who could damage the morale in the locker room. Meanwhile, selling a key player at the beginning of the season could affect their plans for the upcoming season. Even if they receive a substantial transfer fee, there is still a risk that the potential replacement is not going to perform well, or at least that it will need some time to adjust to the new environment.
